The Quintessential Denim

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Sturdy, durable, comfortable etc. are some of the words associated with the fabric “denim.” The denim has remained consistently a favourite fabric for the making of jeans, jackets, skirts, shorts, trousers, shirts, overalls, caps and even bags. The fabric is rough and tough with the weft made to pass through double or may be even more warp fibres. The original colour of denim material had the warp dyed in indigo blue though synthetic dyeing methods are now implemented. Initially associated with the working class, denim jeans are now a stylish brand with the rich and the famous too. So styles may come and styles may go, but the denim will always remain.
